Welcome to the Naugatuck River Valley, an
All-America Community.
The Greater Valley is truly a special place, rich in history and
tradition, uniquely balanced with technology and modern conveniences.
One of our greatest assets are the friendly and dedicated people who
live and work here and who are anxious to greet you!
Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy a scenic hike though one of the
magnificent state parks located in the Valley. Besides the fresh air and
exercise, these parks also offer camping, boating, and picnicking in
peaceful wooded surroundings. There is also fishing, sailing,
water-skiing and swimming on the Housatonic and Naugatuck Rivers. For
golfers there are two private courses as well as several public courses
in nearby communities.
For those who enjoy just getting out and browsing, the Naugatuck River
Valley offers several special annual celebrations, country fairs, and
festivals including the Seymour Pumpkin Festival, Shelton Day, Ansonia
Day, Derby Summer Concerts, Beacon Falls Family Day and Summer Concerts
at the Oxford Gazebo. There are also active theater groups in the
Valley, including the Youth CONNection with annual performances in July
and August.
Interested in arts and antiques? The Valley offers antique shops galore.
As a matter of fact, the District of Seymour Arts & Antiques is fast
becoming a destination of choice for art and antique enthusiasts. Or
perhaps it is history that is more to your liking, and the Valley is
rich in history. Be sure to take a journey on the Valley's Heritage
Driving Tour both online and in-person.
If you have never been to the Valley, we would like to extend an
invitation. If you have been here before, we invite you back again. We
hope the following links will help you plan a trip to our region and
help you enjoy your stay.
