Program presented by Griffin Hospital Occupational Medicine Center & Echo Hose Ambulance
Each year nearly 2 million American workers are victims of workplace violence. These incidents can range from verbal abuse from a co-worker to physical assaults and homicides. Some individuals are recognizably at higher risk, such as cashiers and individuals working late nights and early mornings in high crime areas. However, the risk of violence in the workplace is not exclusive to any industry, job classification or geographic location.
-
Leona May, Compliance Assistance Specialist with federal OSHA, will discuss the General Duty Clause of the OSHA ACT, which requires employers to provide a "safe workplace."
-
James Rascati, LCSW & Partner/Director of Organizational Services with Behaviorial Health Consultants, will discuss indicators and warning signs of violent behavior, as well as corporate and individual reponse.
-
Lt. Brian McCauley, Monroe Police Department, will discuss indentifying potential threats, classifications of actions (ie assault vs. harassment) and protecting yourself from such actions.
